The 'Award' map of this date shows an outline of the building very little changed from that of today. The 1793 census of the then curate of Wells does not appear to record a building on this site.
The award map also records the owner as Edmund Holland and the Corner House as a messuage, shop and other buildings. Some of these buildings stretched along station road to the east.
